π PDF Password Remover
Remove passwords and editing restrictions from PDF files. Our hybrid engine first tries to unlock locally in your browser for maximum privacy β if that's not enough, it uses our secure server-side qpdf engine for strongly encrypted files.

How the Hybrid PDF Password Remover Works
Our tool uses a two-layer hybrid approach to ensure maximum success rate while protecting your privacy:
Layer 1: Browser-Side (Private)
Using PDF.js and jsPDF, we first attempt to unlock and re-render the PDF entirely in your browser. If the PDF only has editing restrictions (owner-protected), this works instantly with no upload needed.
Layer 2: Server-Side qpdf (Encrypted PDFs)
For PDFs with a real open password (user-encrypted), we use the industry-standard qpdf tool on our server. Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, decrypted, and immediately returned. Files are automatically deleted within seconds β we never store them.
Supported Protection Types
- β Open password (encrypted PDF) β with correct password
- β Owner password / edit restrictions (no password needed)
- β Copy/print restrictions
- β 40-bit RC4, 128-bit RC4, 128-bit AES, 256-bit AES encryption
Will my file be uploaded?
Only if needed. Layer 1 (browser) is tried first. Only if the file is strongly encrypted will Layer 2 (server) be used, and files are auto-deleted immediately after processing.
Can this crack unknown passwords?
No. You must know the correct password. This tool removes the locking mechanism once you provide the correct password so you don't need to re-enter it every time.
